Anger at his wife, so he divorced her with three pronouncements in a single phrase

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: The husband came to us, accompanied by his brother-in-law, and with them came the brother-in-law’s father, and the wife was present with them. The husband admitted that he had become angry at his wife and divorced her with three pronouncements in a single word in the month of Dhul-Hijjah of the year 1392 AH. He had not divorced her before that or after it. When she, her father, and her brother were asked about it, they confirmed what he said. They sought our ruling on the matter.

Answer: I issued them a ruling that one pronouncement of divorce has taken effect on the aforementioned wife through the aforementioned divorce, and he has the right to take her back as long as she is in the waiting period. This is because it is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what indicates that such a divorce is considered one pronouncement. The husband took her back in my presence, in the presence of her father and her brother, after she admitted that she had not yet completed her waiting period. By doing so, she remained in his marriage bond. The husband also committed to giving her a sum of one thousand Saudi Arabian riyals to be delivered to her to please her, to be spent on her personal needs. The husband also committed to a sum of two thousand riyals to be delivered to her father. By this, there remained no dispute between the aforementioned parties.
Said by the one who is poor in need of the forgiveness of his Lord, Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, may Allah forgive him, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon His servant and messenger Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
