The Virtue of Distributing Beneficial Tapes and Booklets
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
His Eminence the Shaykh / Abdul Aziz ibn Baz, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, may Allah preserve him.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I ask you to kindly answer the following two questions:
The first question: Some of our colleagues in our school are distributing some beneficial tapes and booklets that contain the guidance and fatwas of the Council of Senior Scholars of the Kingdom, in order to spread good among their colleagues.
However, some of the brothers became upset about this matter and said: This is being strict and restrictive with them; because it makes them look into legal rulings that are difficult for them to apply, and they fear sin. Some of them have come to refuse taking the booklet or the tape for the same reason, and the situation reached the point where some of them said: I wish we would remain in our ignorance; it is better. They cite the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Ma'idah: 101]. We ask you to please guide these brothers regarding this matter in whatever you deem appropriate?
The second question: One of the colleagues was blessed with a female child and wanted to name her (Rinad) or (Ranad); on the basis that this name is taken from the "Rund" tree; which is: a tree with a pleasant scent. Some of the brothers objected to it, on the grounds that this name is foreign. Is it permissible to name her with this name or not? And may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, after that:
Distributing the beneficial books and tapes issued by the scholars of the Sunnah is among the best of acts of drawing near to Allah; because that is part of spreading knowledge, and calling to good. And Allah says:[Fussilat 41:33] the verse [Fussilat: 33], and He says : [An-Nahl 16:125] the verse [An-Nahl: 125], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1893a narrated by Muslim in the Sahih.
As for naming her (Rinad) or (Ranad), I do not know of any harm in it, but choosing some of the well-known, good names is better than it.
May Allah guide them all. And peace.

ادْعُ إِلِى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُOne who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.
