Books Recommended for Distribution

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Our sister says that she is able to buy books and distribute them in the path of Allah. Is there a list that you recommend she buy so that she can distribute them?
The answer: Yes, books are among the most important means of drawing near to Allah, and distributing them is among the most important means of drawing near to Allah. These are beneficial and useful books, and they fall under the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).إذا مات ابن آدم انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية، أو علم ينتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
This is an authentic hadith. If a person buys good books and distributes them, or places them in public libraries for Muslims, this is a righteous deed and a continuous charity.
Among the best of them, as far as we know, are: *Kitab al-Tawhid* by Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, *Kitab al-Thalathah al-Usul* (The Three Fundamental Principles), *Kashf al-Shubuhat* (Clarification of Doubts), *Adab al-Mashy ila al-Salah* (Etiquettes of Walking to Prayer), *Zad al-Ma'ad* by Ibn al-Qayyim on the guidance of the best of people, *Fath al-Majid* by Shaykh 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasan, *Taysir al-'Aziz al-Hamid* by Shaykh Sulayman ibn 'Abd Allah, both of whom are grandsons of Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab. Also, the two *Sahih* collections of al-Bukhari and Muslim, *Sunan Abu Dawud*, *Sunan al-Tirmidhi*, *Sunan al-Nasa'i*, *Sunan Ibn Majah*, *Sunan al-Darimi*, *Muwatta' Malik*, and *Musnad Ahmad*. All of these are great books. Buying them and making them available to Muslims in public libraries, or distributing them to students of knowledge, is all beneficial and good. ... *Fatwas of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah*, *al-Durar al-Saniyyah* (The Noble Pearls: Fatwas of the Imams of the Islamic Dawah in Najd). All of these are great and beneficial books. *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim* (Following the Straight Path: Refuting the People of the Fire) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, *al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah* (The Middle Creed) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, *al-Risalah al-Humayriyyah* (The Humayri Treatise) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and *al-Rasail al-Nuriyyah* (The Luminous Treatises) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. All of these are great, useful, and beneficial books. So buying and distributing these books and their like is good. Also, *Sharh al-Tahawiyyah* by Ibn Abi al-'Izz is a useful and beneficial book. Yes.
The presenter: What about books of tafsir, if you please?
The Shaykh: Among the books of tafsir are *Tafsir Ibn Kathir*, *Tafsir Ibn Jarir*, *Tafsir al-Baghawi*, *Tafsir al-Shawkani*, and *Tafsir al-Qurtubi*. All of these are useful and beneficial books. Buying them, endowing them, and making them available to Muslims is an important and beneficial matter. Yes.
The presenter: What about works from the modern era, for example?
The Shaykh: There are works in the modern era as well, and among them are useful works, such as the works of our brother, the distinguished scholar Shaykh 'Abd Allah ibn Humayd (may Allah have mercy on him) ... and our brother Shaykh Hamud al-Tuwajiri, and some works that people may not know.
There are other books that may not come to my mind right now from our known brothers, such as some of the works of Shaykh Salih ibn Fawzan, which are also useful and beneficial. Whoever wants to buy and distribute books should consult some of the scholars so that he is aware of what he is buying and distributing, or he should write an endowment (waqf) for them in the libraries. That is, he should consult so that he is informed about it, because some of them may have slipped my mind. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah bless you and reward you with good.
