Q: We inform you that we have an official license to duplicate tapes and distribute them abroad, and the administration of building mosques and charitable projects in Riyadh oversees this license. Our question is: Is it permissible to pay zakah for these Islamic tapes , since some benefactors have stopped paying zakah for this important purpose?
A: It is not permissible to spend zakah on what was mentioned; because it is not among the eight
categories of zakah mentioned in the noble verse. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
