Question:
I ask for an explanation of the saying of Allah the Exalted from Surat al-Nazi'at: [al-Nazi'at:40-41]. What are the matters that restrain the self from its desires? And is a woman’s work among these matters that one must restrain the self from in the case where she does not have a material need to work?
Answer:
This verse is a great verse and its meaning is clear. Before it, Allah the Exalted says:[An-Nazi'at 79:37] and preferred the life of this world So indeed, the Blazing Fire is his refuge And as for he who fears the standing before his Lord the verse [al-Nazi'at:37-40]. That is, he feared standing before Allah; therefore, he restrained his self from its forbidden desires; that is, he restrained it from the sins that the soul desires, and this is the one who has Paradise and honor.
Indeed, the self may incline toward unlawful sexual intercourse, intoxicants, and usury or interest, and to other things that Allah has forbidden, and it desires them for reasons. If Allah guides the believing man or believing woman to combat this desire, oppose it, and not obey it, this becomes one of the causes of entering Paradise.
And a woman’s work is permissible if it is lawful or prescribed, and no sins result from it; such as seclusion with a non-mahram man, or disobeying the husband, or the like of what Allah has forbidden for her.
I ask for an explanation of the saying of Allah the Exalted from Surat al-Nazi'at:
(40) But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, (41) Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
