Notes on the book Safwat al-Tafasir by al-Sabuni and his figurative interpretation of the verses of the attributes

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is your opinion of the book (Safwat al-Tafasir), given that it is reported from al-Sawi that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is the source of mercies and manifestations, and al-Sawi says: taking the apparent meaning of the Qur'an and the Sunnah is disbelief?

Answer:
All of this is wrong, it is all an error. The Messenger is not the source of mercies except by figurative interpretation if it is from the side of the Shari'ah; otherwise, mercy is from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). This phrase is wrong, it is an error. And likewise his statement that taking the apparent meaning of the texts is disbelief.
And that al-Sawi's words and statement are ugly and denounced—may Allah grant us safety from it. Disbelief is misguidance if he understood it, and if he understood what he was saying. This denunciation is from the two statements: neither his statement that he is the source of mercies and manifestations, nor his statement that the apparent meaning of the texts is not to be taken. All of this is a great denunciation—we seek refuge in Allah from that.
