Some concise tafsirs that are recommended for reading

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
There are many tafsirs of the Noble Qur'an. Which concise tafsir do you recommend we read? May Allah reward you.

Answer:
There is no doubt that there are many tafsirs, and most tafsirs are not free from some issues. However, among the best tafsirs, indeed the best of all—though it is large—is the tafsir of Ibn Jarir, and the tafsir of Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on both of them), and also the tafsir of al-Baghawi. These tafsirs are important, beneficial, and great.
Following these is the tafsir of al-Shawkani, though it is lengthy; it is also beneficial, as it has careful attention to detail. There is also the concise tafsir of Ibn Kathir by al-Rafai, and the tafsir of Muhammad Ali al-Sabuni. These are concise and beneficial, though al-Sabuni's tafsir may not be free from a few minor points that are noted in certain places. Likewise, the tafsir of al-Jalalayn is beneficial, but it has observations regarding some interpretations of the attributes.
It is rare for anything to be free from flaws. However, if a student of knowledge sees something he disapproves of in a tafsir, he should ask the scholars and consult the books of the scholars. Also, the tafsir of Shaykh Ibn Sa'di is a beneficial tafsir for the general public, because it does not contain anomalous views; it is a beneficial and good tafsir.
