“Whoever washes a corpse, let him perform ghusl, and whoever carries it, let him perform wudu”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A question from: S. S. from Riyadh, asking: What is the authenticity of the hadith:
Whoever washes a dead person should take a bath (thereafter); and whoever carries it should perform ablutionمن غسل ميتًا فليغتسل، ومن حمله فليتوضأ..
Bulugh al-Maram 76
And is the command obligatory or recommended, and why?

Answer:
The aforementioned hadith is weak, and it has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in other hadiths what indicates the recommendation of ghusl after washing a corpse.
As for carrying it, nothing authentic has been established regarding wudu from it, and wudu is not recommended from carrying it; due to the lack of evidence for that.
