Does one who memorizes the Qur'an and then forgets it commit a sin?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Does one who memorizes the Qur'an and then forgets it afterwards due to being preoccupied with the affairs of his life commit a sin?

Answer:
The correct view is that he does not commit a sin for that, but it is prescribed for the Muslim to take care of his memorized Qur'an and to review it so that he does not forget it; acting in accordance with the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Read the Qur'an regularly. By the One in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, it escapes from memory faster than a camel does from its tying ropes.تعاهدوا هذا القرآن؛ فوالذي نَفْسُ محمد بيده إنه لأشد تفلُّتًا من الإبل في عقلها
Riyad as-Salihin 1002
.
And the most important and greatest matter is to take care of reflecting on its meanings and acting upon it; so whoever acts upon it, it is an argument for him, and whoever neglects it, it is an argument against him; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
and the Qur'an is proof, either for you or against youوالقرآن حجة لك أو عليك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2437Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by Muslim in his Sahih, from the hadith of al-Harith al-Ash'ari in a long hadith.
