The ruling on one who forgets what he has memorized of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Our brother asks and says: If a person memorizes verses from the Noble Qur'an by heart and then forgets what he memorized, does he sin for this forgetting?
Answer: We do not know of any blame on him, if Allah wills; because every person forgets. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I am only human, I forget as you forgetإنما أنا بشر أنسى كما تنسون
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1259Sahih (Darussalam)
And what a person is held accountable for is the forgetting of action and the wasting of action. As for his forgetting some of the verses he had memorized, it does not harm him. However, it is prescribed for him to take care of it and to review the Qur'an, just as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Review this Qur'anتعاهدوا هذا القرآن
It is the Sunnah to review it, memorize it, and strive to increase its recitation so that it is not lost to him. But if something is lost to him and he forgets something, there is no blame on him, if Allah wills. Yes; because forgetting is not in his control.
The presenter: Yes. May Allah reward you with good.
