Maintaining family ties is one of the causes of a blessed lifespan

Question:
How do we reconcile the hadiths that mention an increase in lifespan, such as those regarding maintaining family ties, Laylat al-Qadr, and other matters for which hadiths state that lifespan is increased and the term of life is extended, with the meaning of the hadith that states that when a person is formed or reaches forty days, his term of life and whether he will be wretched or happy is written down? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer:
There is no contradiction or conflict between the hadiths, for Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has decreed all things; He has decreed lifespans, sustenance, deeds, misery and happiness, and He has decreed their causes. He has decreed that this person will be dutiful to his parents and maintain ties with his relatives, and as a result, his lifespan will be increased. He has decreed that another will sever ties and be undutiful, and his lifespan will be decreased. It may be that this one has a long life and that one a short life for other reasons. So Allah has decreed the things and their causes , and there is no contradiction. Being dutiful to parents and maintaining family ties are among the causes of the blessing and length of life, while severing ties and undutifulness are among the causes of its shortening and the loss of its blessing.
There is no contradiction between this and the fact that the lifespan is counted and limited, and there is no increase or decrease in what Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has decreed , but these decrees are decreed with their causes. So this person’s life is lengthened to such an age by such and such causes, and this person’s life is shortened by such and such causes, and this person is killed at such an age, and this person dies at such an age, and so on. Our Lord has decreed the things with their causes .
