Deeds that increase lifespan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message arrived from one of the listening brothers from Sudan, identified as (S. M. T). Our brother asks and says: It is said that there are deeds that expand one's lifespan, such as secret charity and maintaining family ties. What is the authenticity of this statement?
Answer: Yes, there are hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating that righteousness is among the causes of expansion in lifespan. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Decree is not averted except by supplication, and lifespan is not increased except by righteousnessلا يرد القدر إلا الدعاء ولا يزيد في العمر إلا البر
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 22:732
meaning: dutifulness to parents. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Anyone who wants to have his provision expanded and his term of life prolonged should maintain ties of kinship.من أحب أن يبسط له في رزقه وأن ينسأ له في أجله فليصل رحمه
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 56
So, dutifulness to parents and maintaining family ties are among the causes of blessing in lifespan and among the causes of expansion in lifespan. This does not mean that the decreed fate changes. No, what Allah has decreed previously remains as He decreed it and does not change. However, He, Exalted is He, attaches things to things. So, this person is dutiful to his parents, and Allah expands his lifespan because of his parents—because of his dutifulness to them—and this was already in the prior decree that he would be dutiful to his parents and that such and such would happen to him, and that he would be delayed until such and such. And this person maintains his relatives, so his lifespan is delayed. And this person gives much charity, and the like of that.
So, the result is that this relates to the decrees that are attached to their causes. The decrees attached to their causes, when their causes are found, what is attached to them is realized. And all of this is from the decree of Allah , all of it is decree. But decree is of two types: a decreed fate that cannot be changed, such as death and old age and the like, and a decree attached to causes. So, what is attached to causes is realized by the causes to which it is attached. Thus, expansion in lifespan is realized by righteousness and maintaining ties, because it is attached to that until the lifespan that Allah has decreed and which preceded in His knowledge , and so is the rest, such as the one whose lifespan is attached to the fact that he will be killed or that he will die by such and such. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
