The ruling on one who dies with obligatory prayers remaining due to the absence of his mind

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man died with obligatory prayers remaining that he had left off during his illness and the absence of his mind. Do his living relatives—men or women—have to make up these prayers, or are they dropped from the deceased because of the loss of his mind, such that nothing is required of the heirs? And if he left them off while his body was ill but his mind was sound, do his heirs have to make up these obligations?

Answer:
If a person leaves off the prescribed prayers because of the loss of his mind, and the rest of his body is not ill, there is no blame on him; they are dropped from him because of the loss of his mind. Consequently, there is no making up of prayers for his heirs. If he leaves off the obligatory prayer while his mind is sound, whether his body is ill or not, he is sinful and wrongdoer for leaving off the prayer, and his case is left to his Lord, and the prayer is not made up on his behalf.
