Question:
How authentic is the hadith:Mishkat al-Masabih 167Isnād Da'īf (Zubair `Aliza'i)?
Answer:
This hadith was authenticated by some scholars and weakened by others. Among what the author of al-Hujjah said is: “A believer does not have complete faith until his desire follows what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought.”
If a person desires fornication and commits sins, his faith is deficient. Likewise, if he desires backbiting or talebearing, or commits them, his faith is deficient. His faith will not be complete until his desire and inclination follow what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought. If he follows his desire and obeys Satan, this is a deficiency in faith. This deficiency may elevate him to disbelief. If his desire aligns with worshipping other than Allah, mocking the religion or cursing it, or deeming permissible what Allah has forbidden, he transitions to disbelief and becomes an apostate from Islam. We ask Allah for safety.
