Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And the overturned one was sent down)]

Then He, the Exalted, said: [Surat al-Najm: 53] meaning: it was sent down, (and the overturned one) is the towns of the people of Lut, (sent down) meaning: it was brought down,And the exegetes differed regarding His saying: (sent down) is the meaning: that Allah sent it down from above to below, based on the fact that He the Exalted raised these towns to above and then overturned them,Or that the meaning is: that He sent it down, meaning: He sent stones upon them until the structure collapsed, so the top of the structure became its bottom.

The important point: that Allah the Exalted informed about the people of Lut that Allah sent them down -Meaning: He sent them down - whether from the air or from the collapse of the structure onto its bottom.
