Calling upon the occupants of graves is major shirk

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
They say: Those who go to the graves and call upon their occupants are committing an act of shirk, yet they are not mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah). Is this correct?

Answer:
It is not correct. The people who go to the graves and call upon them other than Allah, and seek aid from them other than Allah, are committing major shirk. This is the act of the disbelievers of Quraysh and others at al-Lat and al-Uzza and their like. This is major shirk. Therefore, it is obligatory to warn them and admonish them, and that they repent to Allah from it and renew their Islam.
