The permissibility of a traveler combining the two prayers, even if he is staying.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said, "So he advanced and prayed the midday prayer in two units and the afternoon prayer in two units". This indicates the permissibility of combining the prayers for a traveler, even if he is staying. However, it is better not to combine them unless there is a need, such as if he is walking or if he is staying but needs rest, in which case he may combine by delaying or by advancing. Otherwise, it is better for one who is staying not to combine. Then he mentioned how Wahb ibn 'Abd Allah al-Su'aydi, Abu Juhaifah, described how Bilal's call to prayer was: "I used to follow his mouth here and there, meaning to the right and to the left, saying: Hurry to the prayer, hurry to success". The scholars, may Allah have mercy on them, differed on whether he says "Hurry to the prayer" to the right, then "Hurry to success" to the left, then "Hurry to the prayer" to the left, then "Hurry to success" to the right, and "Hurry to success" to the left? Or does he say all instances of "Hurry to the prayer" to the right and all instances of "Hurry to success" to the left? The matter is broad in this regard; if he does this or that, it is all good and there is no harm. Then he mentioned two other hadiths: one that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a green garment, and the other that he was wearing a black turban. This also indicates the permissibility of wearing green and wearing black. And Allah knows best.
