The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
These hadiths that al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in *Riyad al-Salihin* in the chapter on clothing include hadiths indicating that the garment most beloved to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the shirt. This is because the shirt is more concealing than the lower garment and the upper garment. In the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), they sometimes wore the lower garment and the upper garment, and sometimes they wore the shirt. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) loved the shirt because it is more concealing, and because it is a single piece that a person puts on at once, making it easier than wearing the lower garment first and then the upper garment. However, if you are in a country where it is customary to wear lower garments and upper garments, and you wear them like them, there is no blame on you. The important thing is that you do not contradict the clothing of the people of your country and fall into ostentation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the clothing of ostentation.
