The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "The chapter on weeping and fear when passing by the graves of the wrongdoers and their places of destruction, and displaying one's need for Allah the Exalted, and warning against heedlessness regarding that:
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):Riyad as-Salihin 955 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
In another narration, it was said:Riyad as-Salihin 955 " .
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author -may Allah have mercy on him- said in the book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "The chapter on weeping when passing by the graves of the wrongdoers, and the fear that a person may be afflicted with what afflicted them":
Then he mentioned the hadith of Ibn 'Umar regarding the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) passing by al-Hijr, the dwellings of Thamud. And Thamud are: the people of Salih, to whom Allah sent Salih (peace be upon him), and he reminded them of Allah, but they disbelieved in Him. So he said:[Hud 11:65], then the shout and the earthquake took them, and they became prostrate in their homes. And Allah the Exalted had given them the ability and strength to carve mountains and build palaces in the plains, and they became a strong nation, but Allah the Exalted took them with an earthquake and a shout, and they all died. The Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by them on his way to Tabuk, and he said (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih al-Bukhari 4702: For this reason, we say: It is not permissible for anyone to go to the dwellings of Thamud to sightsee and look at their dwellings, because this is falling into disobedience to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), except for a man who intends to go to take a lesson and be weeping when he passes by those places. If he is not weeping, then it is not permissible for him to enter upon them, because he may be afflicted with what afflicted them.
And when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) passed by their valley, he lowered his head, meaning: he bowed his head, and hastened: he sped up his pace until he crossed the valley. And by this, we know the error of these ignorant people who go to the dwellings of Thamud to sightsee and relax, and stay there for days looking at their ancient remains, for that is disobedience to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and a contradiction of his guidance and his Sunnah. For he (peace and blessings be upon him), when he passed by these dwellings, hastened and lowered his head (peace and blessings be upon him) until he crossed the valley, and he warned against a person residing in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and whom Allah destroyed in this land, fearing that the person may be afflicted with what afflicted them of the punishment of Allah, either by his disbelief in Allah Mighty and Majestic until he deserves this punishment, or by a punishment he is punished with even if he does not disbelieve. And when he meets Allah Mighty and Majestic on the Day of Resurrection, Allah the Exalted is All-Seeing of the servants, and success is from Allah.
Yes.
The student: Does this apply to the place where the remains of Pharaoh and his people are, whom Allah destroyed?
The Shaykh : No, because Pharaoh and his people were not destroyed in their dwellings; they were destroyed in the sea.
