What is the ruling on extravagance in ablution?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Some people exaggerate in washing these matters and use a lot of water in doing so, so what is the ruling?

The Shaykh : Yes, extravagance in using water for ablution or the full ritual bath falls under the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess. إنه لا يحب المسرفين
[Al-An'am 6:141]
. For this reason, the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) said: “It is disliked to be extravagant, even if one is on a flowing river”. So how much more so if one is using machines that extract water? The conclusion is that extravagance in ablution and other matters is among the things that are censured.
