"… except that he places a stick over his vessel and mentions the name of Allah, then let him do so, for the mouse may set fire to the houses of the people of the house." Narrated by Muslim. The Shaykh

The reader: “
If a person cannot find anything but a stick with which to cover his vessel and mention the Name of Allah, then let him do so. And the mouse could set fire to the house with its people inside. ... إلا أن يعرض على إنائه عودا ويذكر اسم الله فليفعل فإن الفويسقة تضرم على أهل البيت بيوتهم
Sunan Ibn Majah 3410Sahih (Darussalam)
Narrated by Muslim ”

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on the prohibition of leaving fire or the like in the house when sleeping or the like"
This is because fire, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described it in these hadiths, is an enemy to man. If a person leaves it and sleeps, the mouse—meaning the rat—may nibble at it, and then it may catch fire, as was the case in the past. The oil lamps were lit with oil in the early times, lit with tallow and oil and the like, and then they came to be lit with kerosene, all of which are liquid substances. If the mouse came and played with it, what was in the lamp would spill onto the ground, and then the fire would break out and a fire would occur. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that fire be extinguished when sleeping so that this fire does not occur.
But in the present time, the fuel is not what was used in the past, but rather electricity, negative and positive, by which a light bulb, for example, is lit. So if a person sleeps and there is a light bulb in his house, which they call the night light, lit, there is no harm, because the cause for which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited leaving fire is not present in electricity in the present time. Yes, in things that resemble it, namely the heaters that are on a strip, these are undoubtedly dangerous, especially if a person brings them close to his bed, for he may turn over or perhaps say something about his cover and touch this fire and burn. Therefore, it is prohibited to leave these heaters and the like except in a safe place far from the bed so that a fire does not occur.
Likewise, it is recommended for a person when he sleeps to close the door, meaning to shut it and lock it. And likewise, it is recommended when he wants to sleep to cover the vessel, even by placing a stick over it, because in that is protection for him from Satan. And success is from Allah.
The reader: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The angels do not accompany the fellow travelers who have a dog or bell (with them). لا تصحب الملائكة رفقة فيها كلب أو جرس
Sunan Abi Dawud 2555Sahih (Al-Albani)
Narrated by Muslim
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The bell is from the flutes of Satan الجرس من مزامير الشيطان
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 62:232
Narrated by Abu Dawud with a sound chain according to the conditions of ... "
