The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author said, may Allah have mercy on him: "Chapter on the prohibition of the hawbah posture on Friday while the imam is delivering the sermon"
The hawbah posture is when a person draws his thighs to his belly and his legs to his thighs, and binds himself with a strap, a turban, or something similar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it on Friday while the imam is delivering the sermon for two reasons:
The first is that this hawbah posture may cause sleep to overtake him, so he sleeps and misses listening to the sermon.
The second is that if he moves, his private parts may become exposed, because the common clothing of people in the past was shirts and cloaks. If he moved or turned over, his private parts would become exposed. However, if he is safe from that, there is no harm in it, because if the prohibition is for a reasonable cause, and the cause is removed, then the prohibition is removed.
