Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the prohibition of pointing a weapon or the like at a Muslim, whether in earnest or in jest, and the prohibition of handling a sword while it is drawn:
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
None of you should point at his brother with a weapon because he does not know that Satan may make it lose from his hand and, as a result, he may fall into a pit of Hell-fire (by accidentally killing him). لا يُشِر أحدكم إلى أخيه بالسلاح، فإنه لا يدري لعل الشيطان ينزع في يده، فيقع في حفرة من النار
Riyad as-Salihin 1783
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
In a narration by Muslim, it was said: Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who points at his (Muslim) brother with a weapon is cursed by the angels even if the other person should be his real brother. مَن أشار إلى أخيه بحديدة، فإن الملائكة تلعنه حتى ينزع، وإن كان أخاه لأبيه وأمه
Riyad as-Salihin 1783
.
And it was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited from presenting a drawn sword to another. نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يتعاطى السيف مسلولا
Riyad as-Salihin 1784
Narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: It is a good hadith."

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him- "Chapter on the prohibition of pointing a piece of iron or the like, meaning: at his brother, whether in earnest or in jest, and the prohibition of handling a sword while it is drawn":
These are two issues:
The first issue is pointing at someone with a weapon, a piece of iron, a stone, or the like, as if one intends to throw it at him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited this, because one might point like this, as if intending to throw a stone or a piece of iron or the like at him, and Satan might cause his hand to slip, and it might fly from his hand, causing him to fall into a pit of the Fire, refuge is sought in Allah.
Similarly, what some foolish people do: they come with a car speeding toward a person who is standing, sitting, or lying down, playing with him, and then they swerve the car quickly when they get close so as not to run him over. This is also prohibited, like pointing with a piece of iron, because one does not know that perhaps Satan may cause his hand to slip, and he will not be able to control the car, and at that time he will fall into a pit of the Fire.
Included in this is setting a dog on someone. A person may have a dog, and another person comes to visit him or the like, and he sets the dog on him: meaning he incites it against him. The dog might run off and eat this man, or injure him, and one will not be able to stop it afterwards.
The important point is that all causes of destruction are things a person is prohibited from doing, whether in earnest or in jest, as indicated by the hadith of Abu Hurayrah.
As for handling a sword while it is drawn, it is also prohibited, because if one extends his hand to take the sword while it is drawn, perhaps his hand might shake, and he might cut off the other person's hand.
Similarly, a knife and the like: do not handle it while it is pointed at your companion. If you want to give the knife to your companion, hold the knife on your side, and point the handle toward your companion so that you do not fall into what is prohibited. That is, the blade of the knife: if you want to give it to your companion, keep it on your side, and point the handle toward your companion, so that if there is a slip of the hand, his hand is not injured.
Included in this is also: if you have a stick and you are walking among people, do not carry it horizontally, because if you carry it horizontally, someone behind you or in front of you might stumble over it. But hold it upright, either leaning on it or holding it upright, so that you do not harm those behind you or in front of you.
All of this is from the category of good manners that a person should follow in his life so that he does not fall into something that harms or injures people, and success is from Allah.
