Chapter on the warning against committing what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have forbidden: Allah the Exalted said

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: “Chapter on the warning against committing what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have forbidden:
Allah the Exalted said:
So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order, lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.
[An-Nur 24:63]
.
And Allah the Exalted said:
And Allah warns you of Himself
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
.
And He, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.
[Al-Buruj 85:12]
.
And He said:
And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe.
[Hud 11:102]
.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah, the Exalted, becomes angry, and His Anger is provoked when a person does what Allah has declared unlawful.
Riyad as-Salihin 1806
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim”
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
An-Nawawi -may Allah have mercy on him- mentioned in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: “Chapter on the warning against falling into what Allah and His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) have forbidden”:
This means that a person must be cautious of falling into forbidden acts, and must not be negligent or feel secure from the stratagem of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Indeed, some people are deceived by Satan, who says: “Commit the sin and seek forgiveness from Allah,” “Commit the sin, for the mercy of Allah the Exalted precedes His anger,” “Commit the sin, for Allah the Exalted has said:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills
[An-Nisa 4:48]
,” and so on, of the false hopes by which Satan deceives the children of Adam.
But Satan does not promise them except delusion.
[An-Nisa 4:120]
, it is obligatory to be cautious of what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden.
Then the author, may Allah have mercy on him, cited verses from the Book of Allah as evidence, among which are:
The saying of Allah the Exalted:
So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order, lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.
[An-Nur 24:63]
,
So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order
[An-Nur 24:63]
: meaning regarding the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The meaning of “oppose His command” is that they deviate from it, do not care about it, and commit it. Let them beware:
lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.
[An-Nur 24:63]
: “trial” means a trial in their hearts, refuge with Allah, where Satan casts into their hearts doubt in what certainty is required, or desire for what is forbidden to consume. For this reason, Imam Ahmad -may Allah have mercy on him- said: “Do you know what the trial is? I mean in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
lest fitnah strike them
[An-Nur 24:63]
, the trial is shirk (associating partners with Allah), lest if he rejects part of His speech, something of deviation falls into his heart and he perishes”
, refuge with Allah. So beware of the trial, beware of opposing the command of Allah and His Messenger lest a trial befall you:
or a painful punishment.
[An-Nur 24:63]
: meaning a painful punishment, either in this world or in the Hereafter.
And Allah the Exalted said:
And Allah warns you of Himself
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
: “Allah warns you of Himself” means beware of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), for He is severe in punishment, as He said:
(49) [O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful. (50) And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.
[Al-Hijr 15:49-50]
, and He said:
Know that Allah is severe in penalty and that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:98]
: so He began with the punishment and followed with the forgiveness, lest security from the stratagem of Allah prevail.
And if a person feels secure from the stratagem of Allah, affliction and punishment will befall him. For this reason, Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:
(97) Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? (98) Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play? (99) Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people.
[Al-A'raf 7:97-99]
: The one who feels secure from the stratagem of Allah thinks that he is a gainer, and that he can commit whatever sins he wishes without being punished, but in reality he is a loser, for his end is punishment and disgrace. We ask Allah for safety.
And He (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:
And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe.
[Hud 11:102]
: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained it by saying:
Allah gives respite to the oppressor
Sahih al-Bukhari 4686
: meaning He delays him and lets him wrong himself and disobey Allah, حتى إذا أخذه لم يفلته وتلا قوله تعالى : وكذلك أخذ ربك إذا أخذ القرى وهي ظالمة إن أخذه أليم شديد until when He takes him, He does not let him go, and he recited the saying of Allah the Exalted: And thus your Lord took [the people of] the towns while they were wrongdoers; indeed, His taking is painful and severe.
So beware, beware of being negligent regarding the sins of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Indeed, some of the scholars of knowledge have said: “If a man commits a sin while being negligent about it, even if it is small, it becomes a great one, refuge with Allah, because of the negligence that arises in his heart regarding it”. We ask Allah to protect us and you from the causes of His anger and punishment.
