The reciter: Chapter on what was revealed regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Anfal 8:25] and what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned about regarding trials.
The Shaykh : Trials. We seek refuge in Allah from the trial of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjal. “Trials” is the plural of “trial,” and it is that which tests a person regarding his religion. It is of many types, including doubts that arise for a person until the truth becomes confused with falsehood for him, so you find him possessing knowledge, but he is tested, may Allah protect us, and the truth becomes confused with falsehood for him.
And among them are desires. A person is tested with his desires despite his knowledge of them. The desire referred to here is the desire for marriage, or a desire according to one’s inclination, so a person has an inclination that he knows, but he contradicts it. These doubts occur in matters of creed and in matters of actions. Those who went astray in their creeds and denied what Allah described Himself with, or those who went astray in their creeds and called upon other than Allah for help and attached themselves to other than Allah, their trial is a trial of doubt if they had knowledge, or a trial of desire if they did not have knowledge, or a trial of desire if they had knowledge but contradicted it, may Allah protect us. The trial may also be through action, where a person is tested by action, as happened in the early period of this community when Muslims fought one another. Some of them fought because the truth was confused with falsehood for them, and some fought for leadership, status, and power. The first group fought due to doubt, and the second group fought due to desire. All trials, every trial, returns to these two matters: either a trial of doubt or a trial of desire.
Allah Mighty and Majestic says:[Al-Anfal 8:25] meaning, fear this trial; it will not strike only those who have wronged, but it will strike the wrongdoer and the just. Therefore He said: [Al-Anfal 8:25] In this verse is clear evidence for the obligation of enjoining good and forbidding evil, and that a person is not safe from the evil of others if he has not fulfilled what is obligatory upon him. It is obligatory that we fear this trial, and that we enjoin good and forbid evil.
He said: : Indeed, he (peace and blessings be upon him) warned his community about trials, and especially the trial of the Dajjal. He warned about it with a great warning and described the Dajjal with a description that applies to him exactly.
And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively
