People were (sometimes) judged by the revealing of a Divine Inspiration during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle but now there is no longer any more (new revelation). Now we judge you by the deeds you practice publicly, so we will trust and favor the one who does good deeds in front of us, and we will not call him to account about what he is really doing in secret, for Allah will judge him for that; but we will not trust or believe the one who presents to us with an evil deed even if he claims that his intentions were good.

يؤخذون بالوحي في عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وإن الوحي قد انقطع، وإنما نأخذكم الآن بما ظهر لنا من أعمالكم، فمن أظهر لنا خيراً أمَّناه وقربناه، وليس لنا من سريرته شيء، الله يحاسبه في سريرته، ومن أظهر لنا سوءا لم نأمنه ولم نصدقه وإن قال إن سريرته حسنة

The chapter on fear:
Allah the Exalted said:

And of Me alone should you fear

وإياي فارهبون

And He said:

Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

إن بطش ربك لشديد

[Al-Buruj 85:12]

⁽¹⁰²⁾ And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe. ⁽¹⁰³⁾ Indeed in that is a sign for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day for which the people will be collected, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed. ⁽¹⁰⁴⁾ And We do not delay it except for a limited term. ⁽¹⁰⁵⁾ The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous. ⁽¹⁰⁶⁾ As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling.

وكذلك أخذ ربك إذا أخذ القرى وهي ظالمة إن أخذه أليم شديد، إن في ذلك لآية لمن خاف عذاب الآخرة ذلك يوم مجموع له الناس وذلك يوم مشهود وما نؤخره إلا لأجل معدود، يوم يأت لا تَكَلم نفس إلا بإذنه فمنهم شقي وسعيد، فأما الذين شقوا ففي النار لهم فيها زفير وشهيق

ويحذركم الله نفسه

Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. ⁽²⁾ On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe.

يا أيها الناس اتقوا ربكم إن زلزلة الساعة شيء عظيم يوم ترونها تذهلُ كل مرضعة عما أرضعت * وتضع كل ذات حمل حملها * وترى الناس سكارى وما هم بسكارى ولكن عذاب الله شديد

[Al-Hajj 22:1-2]

But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -

ولمن خاف مقام ربه جنتان

[Ar-Rahman 55:46]

Indeed, one of you is gathered in the womb of his mother for forty days as a drop of fluid, then he becomes a clot for the same period, then he becomes a lump of flesh for the same period, then an angel is sent, so he breathes into him the soul, and he is commanded with four words: to write his provision, his term, his deeds, and whether he is wretched or happy. By Him besides whom there is no god, indeed, one of you will do the deeds of the people of Paradise until there is nothing between him and it but a cubit, then the decree will overtake him, so he will do the deeds of the people of the Fire and enter it. And indeed, one of you will do the deeds of the people of the Fire until there is nothing between him and it but a cubit, then the decree will overtake him, so he will do the deeds of the people of Paradise and enter it.

إن أحدكم يُجمع خلقه في بطن أمه أربعين يوماً نُطفة، ثم يكون علقة مثل ذلك، ثم يكون مُضغة مثل ذلك، ثم يُرسل الملك، فينفخ فيه الروح، ويُؤمر بأربع كلمات: بكتب رزقه وأجله وعمله وشقي أو سعيد.
فوالذي لا إله غيره إن أحدكم ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة حتى ما يكون بينه وبينها إلا ذراع فيسبق عليه الكتاب، فيعمل بعمل أهل النار فيدخلها، وإن أحدكم ليعمل بعمل أهل النار حتى ما يكون بينه وبينها إلا ذراع، فيسبق عليه الكتاب فيعمل بعمل أهل الجنة فيدخلها
