Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the Book of Seeking Forgiveness:
"From al-Aghar al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2702a Narrated by Muslim.
And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:Sahih al-Bukhari 6307 Narrated by al-Bukhari.
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1871 Narrated by Muslim.
And from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said:Sunan Abi Dawud 1516Sahih (Al-Albani) Narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, and he said: The hadith is authentic.
And from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 1518Da'if (Al-Albani) Narrated by Abu Dawud.
And from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1874 Narrated by Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, and al-Hakim, and he said: The hadith is authentic according to the conditions of al-Bukhari and Muslim".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The verses that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*, which contain encouragement to seek forgiveness and praise for those who do so, have preceded this. Then the author mentioned several hadiths regarding this:
Among them is his statement regarding our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), of whom Allah has forgiven what has passed of his sins and what is to come. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, as narrated from him by al-Aghar al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him):Sunan Abi Dawud 1515Sahih (Al-Albani): "A heaviness comes upon him" means that something of oppression and sorrow, or the like, occurs to him. Sahih Muslim 2702a
But our hearts are hard and dead; they do not feel heaviness due to the abundance of sins, and none of us cares about what he has done. Therefore, you find a person indifferent to such matters and little in seeking forgiveness.
And what a person should do is take a good example from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), by seeking forgiveness frequently, as Ibn 'Umar said:.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also informed that among the blessings of Allah upon His servants is that when He tests them with sins and they seek forgiveness from Allah, He forgives them. And that if you had not committed sins—this is the wording of the hadith:Riyad as-Salihin 1871: This is an encouragement for a person to seek forgiveness from his Lord and to seek forgiveness frequently, because by doing so, he attains the rank of those who seek forgiveness from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And he also informed, as narrated by Abu Dawud: Sunan Abi Dawud 1518Da'if (Al-Albani): "Whoever persists in seeking forgiveness" means he continues with it and increases in it, then He will relieve his sorrows, expand his narrow circumstances, and expand his provision, Sunan Abi Dawud 1518Da'if (Al-Albani).
The hadiths regarding the virtue of seeking forgiveness, the praise for those who do it, and the encouragement to do it are numerous. So, my brother, you must seek forgiveness frequently, more than saying: "O Allah, forgive me, O Allah, have mercy on me, I seek forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance," and the like of that, perhaps you will encounter a time of response from Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in which He will forgive you. And success is from Allah.

"From al-Aghar al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is (at times) some sort of shade upon my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day.
And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
By the One in Whose Hand my soul is! If you do not commit sins, Allah would replace you with a people who would commit sins and seek forgiveness from Allah; and Allah will certainly forgive them.
And from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said:
We counted that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say a hundred times during a meeting: "My Lord, forgive me and pardon me; Thou art the Pardoning and forgiving One".
And from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anyone continually asks pardon, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from where he did not reckon.
And from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who says: 'Astaghfir ullah-alladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayyumu, wa atubu ilaihi (I seek the forgiveness of Allah, there is no true god except Allah, the Ever-Living, the Self- Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance),' his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah).
