Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the hadiths of the Dajjal and the signs of the Hour, among others:
"From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
The parts of land dearest to Allah are its mosques, and the parts most hateful to Allah are markets.
Sahih Muslim 671
Muslim narrated it.
And from Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him), from his own words, that he said:
In case it lies in your power don't be one to enter the bazar first and the last to get out of that because there is a bustle and the standard of Satan is set there.
Sahih Muslim 2451
Muslim narrated it.
Al-Buqayni also narrated it in his Sahih from Salman, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not, if you can help, be the first to enter the market and the last to leave it
Riyad as-Salihin 1842
.
And from 'Asim al-Ahwal, from 'Abdullah ibn Sarjis (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: قلت لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : يا رسول الله غفر الله لك، قال: ولك، قال عاصم: فقلت له: استغفرَ لك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟! قال: نعم ولك، ثم تلا هذه الآية : واستغفر لذنبك وللمؤمنين والمؤمنات I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah, may Allah forgive you." He said: "And for you." 'Asim said: I then said to him: "Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ask for forgiveness for you?" He said: "Yes, and for you." Then he recited this verse: And ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and the believing women Muslim narrated it.
And from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One of the things people have learned from the words of the earliest prophecies is, “If you don’t feel any shame, do whatever you like.”
Bulugh al-Maram 16:89
Al-Bukhari narrated it.
From Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The first matter concerning which judgment will be passed among the people on the Day of Resurrection will be bloodshed.
Sunan Ibn Majah 2615Sahih (Darussalam)
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim"
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths are among the scattered hadiths with which al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) concluded his book:
Among them is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The parts of land dearest to Allah are its mosques, and the parts most hateful to Allah are markets.
Sahih Muslim 671
, or he said:
the lands البلاد
. So the mosques are the mosques of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and for this reason Allah the Exalted attributed them to Himself in His saying:
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques
[Al-Baqarah 2:114]
, and He the Exalted said:
(36) [Such niches are] in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein; exalting Him within them in the morning and the evenings (37) [Are] men whom neither commerce nor sale distracts from the remembrance of Allah and performance of prayer and giving of zakah. They fear a Day in which the hearts and eyes will [fearfully] turn about - في بيوت أذن الله أن ترفع ويذكر فيها اسمه يسبح له فيها بالغدو والآصال رجال لا تلهيهم تجارة ولا بيع عن ذكر الله وإقام الصلاة وإتياء الزكاة يخافون يوما تتقلب فيه القلوب والأبصار
[An-Nur 24:36-37]
.
So the mosques are the most beloved of places to Allah because they are the place of His remembrance, His worship, the recitation of His Shari'ah, and other religious and worldly benefits.
For this reason, spending money in them is among the best types of spending, and spending in them is a continuous charity, which is better than a person making his third of his estate into a sacrifice, a dinner, or the like. So if he makes his third for the building and maintenance of mosques, that is better, because the mosques are a continuous charity that remains, a general charity, from which all Muslims benefit: the worshippers, the students, the learners, the teachers, and those whom the cold or heat has driven to the mosques, among others.
As for the markets, they are the refuge of the devils; in them, Satan lays his eggs and hatches his young, may Allah protect us, and he plants his banner and his tent, because the markets are markets of buying and selling, and what prevails in them, except what Allah wills, is lying, deception, betrayal, oaths, and the like. For this reason, they are the most hated of lands to Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And in this hadith is the affirmation of hatred and love for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), meaning: that Allah loves and hates. And among the principles of the people of the Sunnah and the community is that we believe in this and say: "Allah the Exalted loves and hates, and He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is described with attributes of perfection, and He does not love except what contains good and righteousness, and He does not hate except evil and abominations".
And it should also be, as came in the hadith of Salman:
that he not be the first to enter them nor the last to leave them
: rather, one enters it, attends to his need, and leaves, because it is the most hated of lands to Allah, and usually there is free mixing of men and women in it, and some of those in the markets do not refrain from forbidden looking, forbidden speech, and the like. Yes.
As for the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn Sarjis (may Allah be pleased with him): it is that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to seek forgiveness for him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) responded to him,
Usama said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Ask Allah's Forgiveness for me."
Sahih al-Bukhari 4304
: And in this is evidence that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not like others, meaning that one asks him for supplication, that a person says: "O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for me," and this is in his lifetime. But after his death, it is not permissible; whoever asks the Messenger to seek forgiveness for him is a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) and a disbeliever. But in his lifetime, there is nothing wrong with it. And Allah commanded His Prophet to seek forgiveness for himself, for his sin, and for the believing men and the believing women, and He said:
and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women
[Muhammad 47:19]
.
And forgiveness is: "that Allah the Exalted covers the servant, and does not let people see his sin, and He pardons him and passes over it, because it is taken from covering and protection, which is the maghfir (helmet)".
