The Shaykh : Then the author said: "And it has a corroborating narration in al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i: from al-Mughirah".
And Khalid, explain to us what the corroborating narration is? And what is the meaning of a corroborating narration?
The student: A corroborating narration is when a report comes that supports the hadith for which it is cited, strengthening it. The corroborating narration is in the text... the supporting chain is in the chain of narration.

The Shaykh : You, explain to us the corroborating narration, and we will look at the supporting chain.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Abd al-Rahman?
The student: That a hadith comes from the path of another Companion that testifies to the first hadith.

The Shaykh : That is, a hadith comes that supports the weak hadith in meaning, from the hadith of another Companion, or a follower or a successor.
The student: That a hadith comes from the same Companions from another path.

The Shaykh : Is it the same hadith?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : But it has two chains of narration that support each other. This is not needed; give me your opinion. It is not needed except for weak hadiths that are sought to be raised to the level of good, or for good hadiths that are sought to be raised to the level of authentic. As for the authentic, it does not need it. For this reason, you will not find the word "corroborating" or "supporting" except in weak hadiths, either in the chain of narration or in the text.
And it has a corroborating narration in al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i: from al-Mughirah. And in Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibban: from the hadith of Muhammad ibn Muslimah.
