The Shaykh : In this hadith, there are the following benefits:
An explanation of the wisdom of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in choosing Safiyyah, then freeing her, and then making her one of the Mothers of the Believers.
Among its benefits is also that a person should be mindful of people's hearts. If a person's heart is broken, he should strive to mend it as much as he can, for in this there is great merit. A person should be mindful of people with himself, meaning that he should treat people as he would like them to treat him. It is well known that when a person's heart is broken, he likes for people to mend it. Therefore, he should also mend the hearts of those whose hearts are broken, first out of compassion for them, and second in hope for the favor of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
Among the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility of freeing a concubine, and indeed the more correct view is the permissibility of freeing a slave woman and making her freedom her mahr, based on the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Among the benefits of this hadith is that a specific formula is not required for the marriage contract; that is, the marriage is established by whatever indicates it, and the words "marriage" or "giving in marriage" are not required. This is contrary to those among the scholars who said that the marriage is not established except with the words "marriage" or "giving in marriage."
This has passed us by, and we said that the correct view is that the marriage, like other contracts, is established by whatever indicates it, in whatever wording.
Yes, and among the benefits of this hadith is the virtue of Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), in that she was one of the Mothers of the Believers. There is no doubt that one who is among the Mothers of the Believers has a great virtue, for she is the Mother of the Believers.
Among the benefits of this hadith is the explanation of the mercy of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and that if He breaks something from one side, He mends it from another. This is a great benefit that a person can use in his conduct with Allah (Mighty and Majestic): if Allah breaks him from one side, let him expect mending from another side, and let him not despair of the mercy of Allah. Perhaps the mending will come from a side he did not even imagine.
