The Ruling on Tawaf and Completing the Recitation of the Qur'an for the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I sometimes perform tawaf for one of my relatives, my parent, or my deceased grandparents. What is the ruling on that? Also, what is the ruling on completing the recitation of the Qur'an for them? May Allah reward you with good.
A: It is better to leave that off because there is no evidence for it. However, it is prescribed for you to give charity on behalf of any of your relatives or others you love, if they are Muslims, and to make du'a' for them, and to perform Hajj and 'Umrah on their behalf. As for performing salah on their behalf, performing tawaf on their behalf, and reciting for them, it is better to leave that off because there is no evidence for it. Some scholars have permitted it by analogy to charity and du'a', but the safest course is to leave it off. And success is from Allah.
