The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not extend his hand to anyone from his grave

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The brother J. J. A. from Daraa in Syria asks: What is the correct position regarding what is narrated about one of the well-known leaders of the Sufis, namely (Sayyid Ahmad al-Rifai), that he visited the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) mosque in Madinah, and supplicated at the grave, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) extended his noble hand to him and he kissed it? This is widespread among the followers of his path, and is considered a certainty in their view, even though he lived in the sixth century of the Hijrah. What is the degree of authenticity of this?

A: This is a false matter with no basis in truth; because he (peace and blessings be upon him) died the death that Allah decreed for him, as He the Exalted said:
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ
[Surah al-Zumar: 30]. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Allah (SWT) has angels who travel around on Earth conveying to me the Salams of my Ummah.إن لله ملائكة سياحين في الأرض، يبلغوني من أمتي السلام
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1282Sahih (Darussalam)
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting.ما من أحد يسلم علي إلا رد الله علي روحي حتى أرد عليه السلام
Sunan Abi Dawud 2041Hasan (Al-Albani)
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; so invoke many blessings on me on that day, for your blessing will be submitted to me.إن خير أيامكم يوم الجمعة، فأكثروا علي من الصلاة فيه فإن صلاتكم معروضة علي
Sunan Abi Dawud 1531Sahih (Al-Albani)
They said: O Messenger of Allah, how is it presented to you when you have died? He said:
for Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophetsإن الله حرم على الأرض أن تأكل أجساد الأنبياء
Sunan Ibn Majah 1637Da’if (Darussalam)
And the hadiths in this meaning are numerous.
And in none of them did he say that he shakes hands with anyone, which indicates the falsity of this story. And even if we assume its truth, it is to be understood that it was a devil who shook his hand in order to confuse his affairs and test him. And after that, it is obligatory for all Muslims to fear Allah and to hold fast to His Shari'ah, which His noble Book and the Sunnah of His trustworthy Messenger have indicated, and to beware of what contradicts that. May Allah rectify the affairs of the Muslims and grant them understanding in His religion and adherence to His Shari'ah. He is the Generous, the Bountiful.
