Hitting female students for the purpose of education

Question: What is the ruling on hitting female students for the purpose of education and urging them to perform the required duties in order to accustom them to not being negligent in them?

Answer: There is no harm in that. The teacher, whether male or female, and the parent, each of them must observe the children and discipline whoever deserves discipline if they fall short in their duty, so that they may become accustomed to noble character and so that they may be upright in what is required of righteous deeds. For this reason, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: .
The boy is hit, and the girl likewise, when each of them reaches the age of ten and falls short in prayer, and is disciplined until he or she is upright in prayer. And so it is with the other duties in education, household affairs, and the like. It is obligatory for the guardians of young boys and girls to take care of guiding and disciplining them, but the hitting must be light, with no danger in it, yet sufficient to achieve the intended purpose.
