How to perform prayer in places where the night or day is prolonged

Q: The night or day may last for a long period in some places, and it may be very short such that it does not accommodate the times for the five daily prayers. How do the residents of these places perform their prayers?

A: It is obligatory for the residents of these areas where the day or night is prolonged to perform the five daily prayers by estimation if they do not have a zenith or sunset for twenty-four hours, as is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith of al-Nu'as ibn Sim'an, recorded in Sahih Muslim regarding the day of the Dajjal that was like a year. The Companions asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about that, and he said: .
And so is the ruling for the second of the days of the Dajjal, which is the day that was like a month, and so is the day that was like a week.
As for a place where the night is short and the day is long, or the reverse, within twenty-four hours, its ruling is clear: they pray in it as on other days, even if the night or day is very short, due to the generality of the evidence. And success is from Allah.
