The Ruling on the Resting Sitting for the Imam, the One Praying Behind Him, and the One Praying Alone
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Many of the brothers are concerned with the resting sitting and disapprove of those who leave it out. What is its ruling? Is it prescribed for the imam and the one praying behind him as it is prescribed for the one praying alone?
A: The resting sitting is recommended for the imam, the one praying behind him, and the one praying alone. It is of the same kind as the sitting between the two prostrations. It is a light sitting in which no dhikr or du'a' is prescribed, and there is no blame on one who leaves it out. The hadiths regarding it are established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), including the hadith of Malik ibn al-Huwayrith, the hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi, and a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). And success is from Allah.
