The ruling on placing the elbows on the ground during prostration

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A woman asks: What is the ruling on placing the elbows on the ground during prostration?

A: This is disliked and should not be done, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When you prostrate yourself, place the palms of your hands on the ground and raise your elbows.إذا سجدت فضع كفيك وارفع مرفقيك
Sahih Muslim 494
Muslim narrated it in his Sahih. He also forbade spreading out the limbs like a beast, so the Sunnah is to raise the elbows, whether one is a man or a woman, and whether the prayer is obligatory or voluntary, and to rest on the palms during prostration.
