The Dhuha Prayer: When Is It Performed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I see some of my brothers hastening to perform the Sunnah of Ishaq immediately after the sun rises. Is their action correct? If it is not correct, when is it performed? It would be desirable, O honorable Shaykh, if you could specify it in minutes so that a person would be clear about the matter. May Allah reward you with good.

A: The Dhuha prayer is prescribed every day, and its minimum is two rak'ahs. There are many hadiths regarding it, and its time begins when the sun has risen the height of a spear in the eye of the observer, which is approximately a quarter of an hour after sunrise. Its best time is when the young camels feel the heat; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The prayer of those who are penitent is observed when your weaned camels feel the heat of the sun.صلاة الأوَّابين حين ترمض الفصال
Sahih Muslim 748a
, which Muslim recorded in his Sahih.
And the meaning of that is: when the sun becomes hot for the young camels. And success is from Allah.
