The Ruling on Keeping Supplications Quiet in Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The questioner A. A. Q. - Sabt al-Allaya: Some people raise their voices in supplication to the point where they disturb those around them. What is the ruling on this action? We ask you to kindly provide the answer.

A: It is the Sunnah to keep supplications quiet in prayer and otherwise, based on the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors.ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ
[Al-A'raf: 55]. This is because it is more perfect in terms of sincerity, more focused for the heart in supplication, and because it avoids disturbing the praying and reciting people around him. However, if the supplication is one that is expected to be answered, such as the supplication of qunut or the prayer for rain, then the imam raises his voice so that the listeners can say "Ameen." And success is from Allah.
