The Ruling on the Prayer of One Who Prayed the 'Asr of 'Arafah with the Intention of Jumu'ah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I prayed the 'Asr on the Day of 'Arafah with the intention of Jumu'ah, but the imam prayed the 'Asr. Does this prayer suffice despite the difference in intention between the imam and the follower?

A: In the name of Allah, and praise is due to Allah. You must repeat the prayer as 'Asr, for the pilgrim does not have Jumu'ah on 'Arafah; rather, he prays it as 'Asr, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed it as 'Asr during his Hajj, which coincided with a Friday.
