What is the ruling on narcotic drugs if prescribed by a doctor?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : There are drugs that induce a state of stupor like narcotics, which are dispensed in hospitals. So, do we say, for example, that if they are used for medication and under a doctor's supervision, it is permissible and lawful, and if they are used just for pleasure?

The Shaykh : They do not use them for pleasure; they use them for comfort and to forget worries. An intoxicant gives a person a feeling of euphoria, delight, and lightness, but these are the opposite. May Allah protect us, they are used because they affect the brain, causing relaxation so that a person forgets what has happened. And, may Allah protect us, madness reaches them quickly. Some of them cannot bear it, and may Allah protect us, not a month passes for them without them becoming one of the insane.

The questioner : ... ؟

The Shaykh : What is the ruling on selling them?

The Shaykh : Which ones?

The questioner : ... ؟

The Shaykh : It is not permissible; it is forbidden.

The questioner : Even if it is ...?

The Shaykh : Never. Allah is the Greatest. They leave them as a permissible juice, and Allah provides for them.
