"The man raises his voice with it, and the woman keeps it hidden"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said "The man raises his voice with it". To raise his voice means to elevate his voice with it, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
Jibra’il came to me and told me to command my Companions to raise their voices when reciting the Talbiyah. أتاني جبريل فأمرني أن آمر أصحابي أن يرفعوا أصواتهم بالإهلال
Sunan Ibn Majah 2922Sahih (Darussalam)
. It is necessary for the man to raise his voice in obedience to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and in following his Sunnah and the Sunnah of his Companions. Jabir said, "We used to shout with it, shouting". Shouting. If someone were to ask, did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not say to his Companions, when they were glorifying or saying takbir on a journey with him,
O people, restrain yourselves, for you are not calling one who is deaf or absent. The One you are calling is closer to one of you than the neck of his camel أيها الناس اربعوا على أنفسكم فإنكم لا تدعون أصم ولا غائباً إن الذي تدعونه أقرب إلى أحدكم من عنق راحلته
Sahih al-Bukhari 2992
? We say, but the talbiyah has a special status because it is among the symbols of Hajj. So, if you stood on the road and caravans of pilgrims passed by you, would you hear the sound of the talbiyah?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : No, in reality, no, except rarely, those who recite the talbiyah collectively. As for others, it is regrettable that caravans of pilgrims pass by you and you do not hear anyone reciting the talbiyah, even though the talbiyah, as you know, is obedience to the command of the Messenger and following his Sunnah and emulating his Companions. And no stone, tree, or mud hears you except that it will testify for you on the Day of Resurrection, saying, "I testify that this is the Hajj of the House, reciting the talbiyah." And yet, silence and quietness. This is undoubtedly contrary to the Sunnah. The woman: He said, "and the woman keeps it hidden", meaning she recites it quietly, because the woman is commanded to lower her voice in the gatherings of men, so she does not raise her voice with it. Just as she is commanded, if something happens to her in prayer with men, what does she do? Does she clap or say Subhan Allah?
The attendees: She claps.

The Shaykh : She claps so that her voice is not heard. The voice of a woman, even if it is not an awrah, is feared to cause fitnah. For this reason, we say that the woman recites the talbiyah quietly, to the extent that her companion hears her, without announcing it. This is one of the rulings in which the woman differs from the men, and there are many such rulings, because just as she differed from him in her creation and nature, she differs from him in rulings. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is Wise in His rulings; His legal rulings are appropriate to His decrees. Yes, the woman keeps it hidden. And if she raises her voice? If she raises her voice, we say there is no harm? We do not prevent her. We tell her, there is no harm in raising her voice. You are a woman, so the Sunnah for you is to recite it quietly.
Then the author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "Chapter on the Prohibitions of Ihram". The prohibitions of ihram are like the prostration for forgetfulness. Do you know what I meant by my saying "like the prostration for forgetfulness"?

The questioner : That the prostration for forgetfulness is after the prayer... its state

The Shaykh : No, no.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No.

The questioner : The addition is an addition of cause.

The Shaykh : Correct. The addition is an addition of cause, adding the thing to its cause. The prostration for forgetfulness means the prostration that occurs...

The questioner : because of its cause.

The Shaykh : The prohibitions of ihram. The prohibitions are because of the ihram, and the prohibited is that which is forbidden. Allah the Exalted said,
And never has the gift of your Lord been restricted. وما كان عطاء ربك محظوراً
[Al-Isra 17:20]
, meaning forbidden. So, regarding the prohibitions of ihram, the author says there are nine. He says there are nine. And at that point, a questioner asks, what is the evidence that there are nine?
