The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. We have previously spoken about the sixth prohibition, which is the killing of game when it possesses three characteristics: that it is edible, that it is wild, and that it is naturally wild. We clarified that it is permissible for one in the state of ihram to hunt marine animals, and that domesticated animals, such as chickens, may be slaughtered by one in the state of ihram, and may also be hunted if they become wild. We mentioned that what is forbidden to eat is not forbidden for one in the state of ihram, and we stated that what is forbidden to eat falls into three categories: that which is commanded to be killed, that which is forbidden to be killed, and that about which there is silence. We explained the ruling for each of these, and there is no need to repeat it. We clarified that it is permissible for a person to kill a wild animal that attacks him from among the wild animals that are forbidden for one in the state of ihram, because this falls under the category of self-defense. However, anything whose destruction is permitted due to its aggression should be repelled with the least severe means possible; if it can be repelled without killing, it should be repelled, otherwise it should be killed.
