The Shaykh : And among the benefits of the science of grammar is that it aids in understanding the Book and the Sunnah, because through it one distinguishes the doer from the one acted upon, and it aids in grasping the meaning. How many verses differ in their grammatical parsing, and the meaning differs with the parsing! [Al-Ma'idah 5:6] or the meaning differs with the difference in parsing. [An-Nisa 4:1] or the meaning differs. So when you understand grammar, it helps you in understanding the meaning, so that you apply the verses and hadiths to what is intended by them.
And among the benefits of the science of grammar is the revival of the pure Arabic language. There is no doubt that the revival of the pure Arabic language and its spread among people leads to the facilitation of understanding the Book and the Sunnah for many people.
And by this we know that whoever promotes a non-Arabic language among the common people has committed a sin against himself, against his language, and against those who enabled him or taught him that language. We hear that some of our foolish people teach their children, instead of saying: "When you enter a house or a gathering, say 'Peace be upon you,' and when you wish to leave, say 'Peace be upon you,'" they say: "When you enter, say 'bye bye,' or when you leave, say 'bye bye.'" Glory be to Allah! You have the Arabic language, a supplication of peace, and you replace it with this thing.
Therefore, I say: Learning the Arabic language leads to the ease of communicating in it, and communicating in it strengthens a person in knowing the Book and the Sunnah. The science of grammar was needed by people when the tongue began to differ.
