The Ruling on Obeying the Shayatins out of Fear of Their Harm

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Regarding the issues: The fact that a thing yields worldly benefit, whether by warding off harm or bringing benefit, does not indicate that it is not shirk (associating partners with Allah).

Answer:
Yes, if the jinn respond and they respond to them, it is claimed to be permissible, even if the jinn respond by warding off their harm if they say to them. They drag people into shirk (associating partners with Allah) and rejoice in this until they are protected. For this reason, you find that it harms some of the people of the houses with fire and other things until they seek refuge in it, and so on.
So the shayatin of the jinn want people to disbelieve. If they do something to drag them into kufr (disbelief), it is not permissible to obey them. Rather, it is obligatory to seek refuge in Allah from their harm and not to fall into their snares. This is what they did with al-'Uzza, al-Lat, al-Manat, and others. They take shape for people so that they call them to shirk (associating partners with Allah), and they speak on the tongues of the idols and statues to drag people into shirk. We ask Allah for safety.
