The ruling on seeking refuge and reciting the basmalah in every rak'ah of the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Seeking refuge in every rak'ah of the prayer?

Answer:
There is a difference of opinion among the scholars. The Sunnah is to do it only in the first rak'ah. As for the other rak'ahs, it is sufficient to recite the basmalah, if Allah wills. This is the stronger position.
And if one seeks refuge, there is nothing wrong with it. If one seeks refuge in the other rak'ahs, there is nothing wrong with it; there is no prohibition. But part of the prayer resembles... the recitation is one; so if one seeks refuge at its beginning, this is the position of the scholars; seeking refuge in the first rak'ah is sufficient for him. And if he seeks refuge in the second and third, there is nothing wrong with it. The matter is broad, if Allah wills; due to the generality of the verse:
So when you recite the Qur'anفَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ
[Al-Nahl: 98].
Q: Is the basmalah the same?
A: No, the basmalah is repeated at the beginning of a surah. If one begins a surah, he repeats the basmalah, except in the case of al-Baqarah.
