The days the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fasted and commanded to be fasted

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I ask the Shaykh to mention the days that the Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast and commanded to be fasted, other than the obligatory fast of Ramadan, and their virtue?

Answer:
He (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes fast consecutively until the Companions would say, “He does not break his fast,” and he would sometimes break his fast consecutively until they would say, “He does not fast,” depending on his availability and busyness. If he had free time, he would fast consecutively, and if he was busy, he would break his fast consecutively, (peace and blessings be upon him).
He used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, and if he was prevented from fasting on them, he would fast afterwards, and he would fast consecutively (peace and blessings be upon him). He would encourage people to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, and he would say:
Those are two days in which deeds are shown to the Lord of the worlds, and I like my deeds to be shown (to Him) when I am fasting.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2358Hasan (Darussalam)
. He would encourage people to fast three days of every month (peace and blessings be upon him), and he would say:
A good deed is rewarded ten times overالحسنة بعشر أمثالها
. Three days of every thirty-day month, because it is a part of ten, and a good deed is rewarded ten times over, so whoever fasts three days of every month is as if he has fasted the entire year. And thus the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As:
Fast three days a month as the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times and that will be equal to one year of fasting.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1976
.
He encouraged people to fast six days of Shawwal, and he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
it would be as if he fasted perpetually.
Sahih Muslim 1164a
:
He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. it would be as if he fasted perpetually.
Sahih Muslim 1164a
. This is a favor from Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). And he said to Abdullah ibn Amr, when he asked him to allow him to fast the entire year:
Fast one day and break the fast one day; that is fasting the entire yearصم يومًا، وأفطر يومًا؛ فذلك صيام الدهر
. He said:
And it is the best of fasting, and it is the fast of Dawud
(peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
