What is meant by fasting the white days? And which days is it recommended to fast?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Finally, our brother from the Sultanate of Oman says: I want to know from you about fasting the white days. What is meant by it, and what is its reward? Is it a recommended practice? And which days did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) strive to fast? And if a person fasts only Monday and Thursday in Rajab and Sha'ban, does he get reward or not?
Answer: It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
he used to fast on Mondays and Thursdayأنه كان يصوم الإثنين والخميس
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2367Sahih (Darussalam)
(peace and blessings be upon him). And it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he encouraged fasting on Monday and Thursday and said:
They are two days on which deeds are presented to Allah, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fastingإنهما يومان تعرض فيهما الأعمال على الله، وأحب أن يعرض عملي وأنا صائم
He (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged people to do so, and he urged Abdullah ibn Amr, Abu Hurayrah, Abu al-Darda, and others to fast three days of every month. So the recommended practice is to fast three days of every month. If they are the white days, that is better. They are: the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth. These are the white days. If he fasts them, that is better because they are in the middle of the month. They are called "white" because their night is white with the moon and their day is white with the light of the sun. If he fasts the three days other than the white days, whether in the first ten, the middle ten, or the last ten days of the month, other than the white days, there is nothing wrong with any of this. The point is to fast three days. The point is to fast three days of every month. This is what is prescribed and the recommended practice. But if he fasts them on the white days, that is better; that is an increase in virtue. And if he fasts them in Rajab or in Sha'ban, there is nothing wrong with it. But if he continues with them, that is better. And if he fasts them in some months and leaves them in some months, there is no blame on him. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you. But what about singling out Rajab and Sha'ban?
The Shaykh: It does no harm; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast all of Sha'ban. What is disliked is singling out Rajab, but if he fasts part of it, it does no harm.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
