Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter sent by the listener ... Hashi Muhammad from Ta'if says: Your Eminence, Shaykh! If a person is going to travel at nine in the morning in Ramadan, is it permissible for him to break his fast that day from early morning? Please guide us. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
It is established from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he intended to travel, prepared for the journey, and put on his travel clothes, so he ate before traveling. Some of his companions asked him if this was a recommended practice, and he said: Yes, it is a recommended practice. And something similar was reported from Abu Basrah al-Ghifari. So there is no blame on him for doing so. And if he is patient until he goes out, that is more cautious. Yes. And if he lightens the travel, it becomes obligatory for him to complete the fast and make up the day. If he lightens it, it becomes obligatory for him to complete it; he must complete the fast and make up the day on which he broke it. Yes.
