The questioner says: I have a job that I am compelled to do. I leave at two-thirty in the afternoon until five-thirty, or later. The distance the car travels is approximately twelve and a half kilometers. During this time, the 'Asr prayer is lost for me, so I am forced to combine it with the Zuhr prayer. I do this by delaying the Zuhr prayer until the sun passes its zenith, then combining them by advancing the Zuhr without shortening the prayer. Is there any sin on me for this, or is my work valid? No. It is not permissible to combine the prayers. Rather, pray the prayer in its time: 'Asr in its time and Zuhr in its time. This is not travel. You must pray 'Asr in its time and Zuhr in its time. If you proceed to work before 'Asr, pray on the way. Stop and pray the 'Asr prayer on the way. Otherwise, delay your departure until you have prayed the 'Asr prayer. The obligatory prayer takes precedence over work. One must seek out what Allah has made obligatory. So either you stop and pray 'Asr, or you pray it before traveling, and the travel occurs after the time for 'Asr has entered. The journey there is not considered travel, meaning...
