Ruling on advancing or delaying the prayer from its time due to studies

Question:
We move on to another message from a listener: Nazim Zahir Ayal from Iraq. Our brother Nazim says: I am a student in the secondary stage, and the school attendance schedule is as follows: for the first three days of the week, it is at 12:30 in the afternoon, while for the other three days, it is at 8:00 in the morning. Therefore, I find it difficult to perform the 'Asr prayer. If I combine it with the Zuhr prayer, I am late for attendance, and if I am late, I am not allowed to enter. Knowing that I arrive home at 5:00 in the afternoon, is it permissible to perform the 'Asr prayer at this time, i.e., at 5:00, and is it permissible to combine it with the Maghrib prayer?

Answer:
It is obligatory for you to pray the prayer in its time, even if you are in attendance. You do not have the right to delay it from its time. So you pray Zuhr in its time while you are at work with your brothers, if there are good brothers with you, you pray with them. And likewise, you pray 'Asr in its time, and you do not have the right to delay it. If those with you prevent you from praying, then you pray it after the work ends, if the time remains. If the time remains and the sun has not set, then you may delay it.
As for if you do not leave until after the sun has set, then you do not have the right to delay it, and you must pray in the time. You do not have the right to obey them in that; you do not have the right to obey your superiors in that, even if you lose the job, or even if you leave the studies. You must pray the prayer in its time, both Zuhr and 'Asr, even if that leads to leaving the studies entirely. However, if it is possible to pray Zuhr before entering, before attendance, in its time, and then pray 'Asr in its time after attendance, because you leave from it and the time is wide, then there is no harm in that, and there is no blame. But you do not have the right to delay it, meaning 'Asr, until the sun sets. You do not have the right to advance Zuhr before its time, and you do not have the right to combine them. Rather, each prayer is in its time, because this is not a place for combining; it is not illness, nor travel, but rather an incidental occupation, which is the studies. So it should not be an excuse for combining. But you pray each prayer in its time. If you are unable to do so, and you are prevented, then there is no need for this job. It is obligatory for you to leave this job, to preserve your religion and to be careful about the safety of your religion. And Allah is the Helper. Yes.

The presenter : Allah is the Helper. Your Eminence, is there a noble, easy, gentle call to our brothers in the Islamic world so that they pay attention to the times of the prayers, especially for the male and female students?

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. We advise all Muslims everywhere to fear Allah regarding the Muslims, and to fear Allah regarding the workers, and to fear Allah regarding the male and female students, so that they do not cause them to lose the times of their prayers. Rather, it is obligatory for them to enable them to pray. The worker is enabled, the student is enabled, and the female student likewise. It is obligatory for all Muslims everywhere to fear Allah and to enable their workers, students, and female students to enable them to pray in its time, Zuhr and 'Asr. And likewise, if the lesson is at night, in Maghrib and 'Isha'.
It is obligatory for everyone to assist one another in good, and Allah the Exalted says:
cooperate in righteousness and pietyوَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى
[Al-Ma'idah: 2] And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
By Time,وَالْعَصْرِ ۝
Indeed, mankind is in loss, except those who have faith and do righteous deeds and enjoin one another to truth and enjoin one another to patience [Al-'Asr: 1-3].
It is not permissible for Muslims to assist in leaving the prayer, or in wasting it in its times. This is forbidden for everyone, for the superiors and the subordinates alike. Rather, it is obligatory for the superiors and subordinates, from managers, deputies, and teachers, that they all cooperate to facilitate the performance of the prayer in its time by the workers, male students, and female students, in congregation for the men. As for the women, there is no need for congregation; each one prays in her time and in her place, and praise be to Allah, congregation is not obligatory for them. As for the men, it is obligatory to facilitate the matter of prayer for them, and that it be in congregation. This is the obligation for everyone. We ask Allah for guidance and success for everyone.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
